I am an emotional wreck when it comes to sick or dying animals. This is the only reason why I do not watch movies which feature animals such as Eight Below or Lion King. When we were kids, my aunt made us watch this famous Hindustan film, nevermind we did not understand the language, about an elephant. In the end the elephant died because he protected his human friend from the fatal gun shot. Evidently until today, the movie still has an impact on me.
Growing up in a small town, there were stray dogs and cats. If I were to see an injured dog with a missing leg, I would feel so sad and sometimes cry. Or when my puppy died, I came up with a ritual which I conducted on every Wednesday to make sure that she ended up in heaven. I was only eleven. Anyway you get the idea.
First of all, my heart goes out to the those who lost their loved ones in the horrendous bushfire in Australia. It also made me very sad to learn that millions of animal may have perished too. In the news today, there was an article about the poor creatures which have been saved. One baby wallaby had his nose cooked, whiskers singed and his poor ears fried crispy because he must have stuck his head out of his mummy's pouch. There was a koala, Sam (pic above), whose paws have been burnt, probably from walking on the very burnt ground. Thank goodness there is still much kindness to go around in the midst of such devastation. My heart goes out to those who will have to carry out the most unenviable task to euthanise thepoor animals with extensive injuries.

Awwwww! You are so sweet! You have a good heart.
you're right poe..at times i don't understand the cruel act done towards these innocent animals..have we lost our sense of composure anyway? i felt pity with the stray cats and dogs at our place..it seems that the penalty of RM200 is totally a nonsense compare to the suffering and injuries a human being can caused to these helpless animals!! my sister fed a stray puppy every single day in her backyard with nutricious biscuits i tell uuu..mahal giler..regardless of the "haram" of touching a dog for a muslim, but that doesn't mean that you can't touch them or love them (you need a proper way of cleaning that's all - eventually she didnt touch the dog but just place in the biscuits every time the puppy start barking as a sign of his presence hehehe..), but by giving something to these animals, hopefully there still a hope and reason for them to live and think of there's eventually a heaven on earth. and yes, i will never ever watch movie with animals in it..belum sampai 5 minit i dah start crying..sheesh!! emo..emo..

emma
hey emma, i used to know a muslin lady in citibank who has a couple dogs! she explained to me that as long as you keep the hygiene and all, it is ok to have dogs. so i'm so glad to hear that you and your sister are not dog phobic like most people are.
i know how it feels for one who fancy cats so much, emma. for instance, my husband, he feeds stray cats and technically he adopted them (yes, he's a cat person). the funny part is, there'll be always a newcomer in 2-3 months and i suspect that people 'buang their cats' in front of our house because they know the cat will be well-fed. now we have 1 resident cat, 4 adopted-strayed cats (one of them is OKU, so sad)and god knows who's next.
on the dog note, i think it's fine if we keep dogs for protection of our house and family. i don't mind keeping dogs if my house has been burglarized like..4-5 times a year by perompak tegar..
will you?
